Overview
Crane hire in and around Exeter
We provide crane hire and contract lifting across Exeter and Devon, for loads between 20kg and 1,000 tonnes.
The work splits between the estates either side of the M5 and the big campus sites, where plant is replaced on buildings that stay open. Tell us which yours is and we will plan to suit.
Which areas do we cover?
Every EX postcode, the rest of Devon, and the rest of the UK when you need us.
Which cranes?
All-terrain mobile cranes, city cranes, light truck cranes and our electric pick and carry cranes, matched to the load and the yard.
No lift planner?
Book a contract lift. Our appointed person surveys, plans and supervises it, under our insurance.

What we plan for
Getting there
Junctions 29 to 31 of the M5 serve most of the estates, with the A30, A38 and A377 into Devon. Large cranes are routed round low bridges and weight limits.
Open campus sites
Hospital and university work sits next to entrances and pedestrian routes, so the position, the exclusion zone and the timing are agreed with the estates team first.
The old city
Streets inside the historic core are narrow and partly pedestrian, so central lifts mean a compact machine early or on a Sunday.
By the Exe
Marsh Barton and the land along the river are low-lying with made ground in places. We check the bearing and put mats down where needed.
Questions
Common questions
Can you lift on a hospital site while it is open?
Yes. The standing position, the exclusion zone, the load route and the timing are agreed with the estates team in advance.
Can you get a crane into a Marsh Barton unit?
Yards vary. City cranes and pick and carry machines handle the tighter units, and where a yard is too small we reach in from the estate road.
Do you cover the rest of Devon?
Yes, from Tiverton and Crediton to Exmouth and Newton Abbot, and into Somerset and Cornwall too.
What size crane do I need?
That comes from the weight at radius, the distance from the crane’s centre to where the load lands, with the hook block and slings added.
